……

I am obsessed with anything Egyptian / with Egyptian motifs. I am such a massive ancient Egypt History & Mythology Mega nerd!

Recently I was contacted by a young lady, hoping to sell some of her deceased grandfathers collection of Egyptian themed jewels and Cameo’s (a man after my own heart!)

Some I was able to direct to clients I know are particularly fond of Egyptian revival pieces, a few I purchased outright. Which again, I don’t normally do, but like I said I can’t resist anything with an Egyptian theme!

There were a couple of pieces she didn’t want to part with- and fairly so- that I would have loved to have in shop (or PC!), but I was able to pick up a few things I will be releasing now and then, over time…

This ring is definitely a favourite…

The ‘Ankh’ is one of the most important symbols from Ancient Egypt; symbolising life, eternity and the cycle of the sun…

Even though this intaglio definitely does NOT date back anywhere close to that far, it’s interesting to note that Pyrite was ruled by the Sun God; RA, in Ancient Egypt.

It was valued for its ability to make fire (Pyr-Greek-fire) and also was used as a gem in jewellery, and to make mirrors! It was believed by them (and still is by some) that this stone had the power to cleanse and revitalise…like the sun!

In any case. This is a SERIOUSLY cool ring
